I had been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. I shot Jennica and Tyler's engagement session last year during the week of Thanksgiving and it was a blast (remember the ring picture with s'mores?)! Well, at one point I got the car we took stuck in the snow... but once we got past that it was great. They are so patient and go-with-the-flow; exactly the kind of people I Love to work with. I'll be honest, the whole week before this wedding I was quite stressed about the weather. The forecast kept changing, but for the most part it said it was supposed to rain all day. Even when I woke up that morning (around 6am), it said it was supposed to rain from 8am-9pm. By some amazing stroke of luck it didn't start raining until we were inside the barn for the reception around 5pm. I couldn't believe it! All that stress for nothing! And yet, I can't complain because I was SO thankful to get some beautiful outdoor portraits before the skies let loose :)
Jennica and Tyler have known each other since elementary school because they were both friends with one of the groomsmen at that time, but they didn't officially meet and start talking until the end of high school. They hit it off immediately and have been together ever since!
When Tyler proposed, he tricked Jennica into thinking they were going out to dinner for his grandpa's birthday. He asked if they could pick up his parents from the Broadmoor (a resort in Colorado Springs) on the way because their car broke down. Apparently this wasn't unusual since they stay there every year for their anniversary and they took the old green Subaru that never runs well. Tyler also used to work at the Broadmoor so him and Jennica would go down there to walk through often for date nights (side note: the hotel/resort is massive has one of the largest collections of Western art in the country.. or something like that).
Jennica said that they went up to Tyler's parents room to pick them up and his mom pretended to have to go meet the tow truck driver, saying she'd be right back. Their room was an apartment overlooking the lake and was BEAUTIFUL. They walked around and went out on the balcony where he got down on one knee! Then of course, Jennica found out that it wasn't Tyler's grandpa's birthday and his parent's car was running just fine! And all of his family and hers were waiting for them downstairs in the restaurant!
Fun fact: Jennica's grandma made all the decorations herself!
Huge shout out to the other vendors who made this wedding beautiful and possible!

Right in the midst of a stormy summer weekend in Northwest Arkansas, the sun shone for the entire Meinzer wedding. Several months ago I had the opportunity to shoot Jake & Kristy's engagement session at this rustic barn venue near Bentonville and it was fun to see it again all set up for their wedding day!! These two newly weds met in college. They hit it off right away, but despite a wonderful friendship, didn't start dating until almost 10 years later. They both view being friends for so long before getting married as such a blessing. They got to know each other and each other's families well in a no-pressure environment before dating which took a lot of stress away and made wedding planning a (relative) breeze!
Ryan & Jamie celebrated their union on a hot, June day in North Kansas City. The Courtyard at Briarcliff where the got ready was the perfect spot for their first look and bridal party photos in order to escape the 97 degree heat just outside the doors. Trezo Mare Restaurant's patio space was the backdrop for their ceremony and reception and thankfully some shade was provided by the building next door.
A sunny, Missouri wedding at the Weston Red Barn Farm with pastel colors, succulents, and the goofiest of wedding parties. For their wedding day, Holly and Chris envisioned a celebration! Having food, friends, family and dancing is the best combination... and especially since it was for the purpose of them uniting together! Holly wanted it to be special for the two of them and to feel every moment, the grass under her toes (because yes, she got married barefoot because she is awesome like that), watching Chris' facial expressions, laughing and smiling through their first dance because that's what he does to her, dancing with her best friend, and stuffing her face with cupcakes. In retrospect, I'd say her hopes and dreams for the day definitely came true ;)
A classy Spring brunch wedding at The Simpson House venue in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri. White walls, chandeliers and wedding cake donuts... yes please. These two ladies are some of the most amazing people I know... so thankful I had the opportunity to play a small part in their story!
A chilly, Spring wedding at my very own church in Olathe, Kansas! Eric & Amber tied the knot while surrounded by their closest friends and family members and then flew off to Thailand for their honeymoon!
