I grew up in the Colorado Springs area and have been drawn to the mountains like a magnet ever since. It’s sad to think it’s been almost 10 years since I’ve lived in the state, but I’m grateful that I’ve had the opportunities to go back several times each year to visit. Over the past couple years it’s mostly been at Thanksgiving or Christmas to spend the holidays with my family so we’ve gotten to ski and such, but it was time to get back there for more than a weekend over my favorite Colorado season: summer. I had told my husband that I’d be spending a week in the beautiful state this summer if he wanted to join ;) I’m sure glad he opted to come.
We started out in Morrison with a couple friends from Kansas City and I got to do maternity photos for one of my besties at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Then we spent a couple days in Woodland Park where my parents still in the same house where I grew up. Then for the last half of the week we drove 3 hours up to Crested Butte, the wildflower capital of Colorado. My husband’s parents and brother got to join us from Arkansas and my parents came as well, with the trailer I grew up camping and exploring the country in.
In retrospect I always wish I took more photos during vacation than I did, but I suppose it’s okay to enjoy some time off from holding a camera every once in awhile and enjoy being present ;)
If you’ve never been to the Crested Butte area, it’s a must-see for your bucket list!
A short week later and I was in Arkansas with my little sister and had to rock the new tank top I bought in Colorado. I’m such a sucker for a good outdoorsy/adventure saying, I couldn’t resist buying it ;)
