Mission Hills Christmas Card Photo Session | The Kirklands

I had such a fun time with this sweet little family in Mission Hills yesterday! They are the kind of people I could see myself being friends with down the road and their pup was hilarious and so loveable! Diana actually found me from Nextdoor, an app that creates connections between people in your neighborhood. You can sell things through it like you can through Facebook or Craigslist, you can request suggestions for services (lawn care, photography ahem ahem, etc.), you can give each other a heads up about potential crime situations, and the city can even give you updates about happenings that might affect you... it's pretty interesting! Diana is actually a writer and she told me that she's working on a novel!! Comment below if you think she should let us all know when her book is done so we can buy and enjoy it ;)

Bella Vista, Arkansas Family Photos | The Gunters

This Colorado girl is having a hard time believing how easy it is to do photo sessions in December in the Midwest. It's the very end of November and I was comfortable outside for this session without a coat in Northwest Arkansas (where my in-laws live)! I love photographing many of the same families each year because it gives me a chance to catch up with them and help tell their long-term story, but there is also something so special about the first time I get to know them and share my passion with them like I did for this session!

It was my absolute pleasure to capture the Gunters on this gorgeous, 60 degree day at Tanyard Creek Nature Trails, one of my favorite spots to shoot in Northwest Arkansas. Have other location ideas for me? Let me know in the comments below! I'm always looking for new spots :)

Ironwoods Park, Kansas Family Photos | Augusta and Creighton Moes

When I first moved to Kansas City three and a half years ago, I ran a Groupon for only a few days. I wasn't sure that it was going to reach my ideal client and didn't want to cheapen the photography industry in any way so I was hesitant to do it at all, but since I hardly knew anyone in the area, I was desperate to meet people. I had four people buy the Groupon during that time including this family, but they have since continued to book sessions with me over the years and I couldn't be more grateful! I love that they are so consistent in getting photos taken of their kids all the way through high school. I think it's fantastic that they care about capturing these seasons that are often overlooked in the busyness of teenagers' lives because they will have so much to help them look back on, remember and share the journey with generations to come.

Ironwoods Park in Leawood, Kansas was a new location for me, but definitely one I'd be up for using again as it is convenient for anyone who lives South of the downtown area.

North Kansas City Family Photos | The Elliott Family

What better way to spend a fall evening than photographing this adorable family in beautiful Kansas City?! The last time I took photos of sweet Patrick was just before he could even hold himself up so it was a blast to be having trouble even keeping up with him this time. Now, with baby number two on the way, Rebecca could not look more beautiful! We took these images on her cousin's property up in the Northland and I'm loving the neutral colors we are starting to get as the transition to winter begins. Thank you guys for putting up with the chilly evening with me, it was so worth it!

Liberty Memorial, Kansas City Fall Family Photos | Curtis Family

Wow. This fall has brought me in touch with so many incredible families in Kansas City, Northwest Arkansas and Colorado. This KC fam met me at the Liberty Memorial near Crown Center for their session, which happens to be one of my favorite places to shoot! The variety between trees, structure and the city as a backdrop never disappoints. Their kiddos are also at an age where they still think I'm cool, so I had that going for me ;) Lidia (the youngest) kept asking if my husband, Preston, and I could go to dinner with them sometime haha - so sweet! Meet the Curtis family:

Olathe Fall Photos | Bell Family

Frontier Park in Olathe, KS was the perfect backdrop for a fall photo session this past week with the Bell family. When people ask me what to wear for family photos, I typically suggest choosing one or two patterned pieces and then coordinating the rest of the colors to those instead of starting your pallet with one color. These guys did that without me even suggesting it! Perfect for a cool evening and perfect timing as the trees start to turn orange. I can't get enough of these fall sessions and love that people will have these images in time for Christmas cards!

Tanyard Creek Trails, NWA Family Photo Session | The Websters

I'm so ecstatic to share this session with you because it was the first session I've gotten to do of this sweet family now that there are FIVE of them! Breckyn is the absolute perfect addition to their little tribe and I just can't believe how fast time flies as I think back to our other sessions. Little Peyton's first birthday/cake smash session at Crystal Bridges (Bentonville, AR) feels like it was just yesterday, much a maternity session for Karlee before I even had my new website/blog!

We met at Tanyard Creek Trails in Bella Vista Arkansas on a beautiful Sunday morning for this shoot; one of my favorite spots in the area. The kids were a bit chilly, but managed to put up with me for an hour of walking and smiling:)

Gardner, KS Sibling Photos | Aaron, Zach & Maya

What a perfect, cloudy day we had in Gardner, Kansas this past weekend. I got to meet Aaron, Zach and Maya who were a bit shy but we had a great time shooting around their parents' property! It was refreshing to see siblings treat each other this well, even in the short time I had with them. They seemed to just know what the others were thinking or feeling and had a strangely wonderful connection with each other. I hope that never changes for them! The two boys are 16 years old and Maya is only 13.
