In the middle of one of the rainiest seasons I’ve experienced in my 4 years in Kansas City, the sun came out on the day of this session as if solely to celebrate Molly and Shawn’s engagement!! I adore shooting on Sunday evenings because it is always so quiet in the city and this day was no exception. It was like we had the whole Crossroads to ourselves so we used the ivy walls and a bunch of other nooks within walking distance before switching outfits and utilizing the outside of the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts as the sun got a little lower in the sky!
This was the first time I’ve offered mini sessions on such a large scale and it was such a good learning experience! All I can say is thank you to Pete & Jordan for teaching me strategies that were the biggest factor in booking 18 total mini sessions this Spring (14 new clients) and for Honeybook, my client management system, for helping me to stay organized and be able to handle all of them efficiently! Fellow creatives & small business owners, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have question about either :)
This engagement session was an absolute dream!! We started at Loose Park, swung by the Westside North area because they spend a lot of time there together (specifically at Goat Hill Coffee), and then finished in the Westbottoms since they had told me they specifically love the look of brick. Brooke discovered my work on Instagram soon after they got engaged and said she reached out in part because I seemed nice and excited about what I do 😍 I guess the amount of exclamation points I always seem to use isn’t always annoying 😉
For this session, we were lucky enough to get a beautiful, sunny day in the middle of rainy season in Kansas City. Antioch Park was swarming with other people and photographers, but thankfully, it’s such a large area that we were able to get a lot of variety with only a medium amount of Photoshopping people out of the background ;) This family is so kind and it felt like we had known each other forever!!
Kelli is one of the most driven, determined people I know. She’s not even thirty years old yet and she owns her own hair salon and is about to complete a FULL Ironman race (that’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a full 26.2 mile marathon all back to back).
If you live in the Colorado Springs area, be sure to hire Kelli with Lush & Lather for your hair and makeup needs - she is the best of the best!
This sweet family was kind enough to wait for me to make a trip back to Colorado to do their photo session, so I knew I had to make it happen! It was the perfect excuse to get a little mountain time, see family over Easter weekend, and schedule a few other photo sessions while I was in town! I’ve known Kyli since she was born, we were in each other’s weddings, and we have countless memories and experiences together over the years. Her and Josh are some of the best people I know, so it’s only fitting that it turns out Josh’s family is awesome too!

Meet Caitlin, owner and designer at Ember & Co, a boutique graphic design studio. We got to do the first half of this brand photo session at Caitlin’s new adorable house in Castle Rock, Colorado which has incredible light and a stunning office space. I adore that she tied in her main brand color with the polka dot shirt and I can’t wait to see how amazing that looks on her website!! The second half we did at Dawson Canyon Open Space in Castle Rock, I’d love to go back and actually hike there sometime, it was stunning.
Jodi & Max met at Crossfit and there is no doubt they are super in love. What a treat it was to get to use Garden of the Gods and the backdrop of Pikes Peak for their session! This spot is a short walk/hike up from Balanced Rock. We actually got lucky with a somewhat cloudy day so we could see the mountain so well behind them!
