On this gorgeous Spring day in Kansas City, Hannah and Sara proved that you’re never too old for mother/daughter photos!! I adore how close these two are, and how special that they will have these images of their relationship to cherish for the rest of their lives!
It was such a pleasure to meet this sweet family and have the opportunity to capture their first official family photos!! They adopted Jayda just 3 days before we took these photos and had taken the day off to spend with her and celebrate!! Ruby and Johnny foster two other children as well; I have so much respect for them as they put the needs of these kiddos above their own and show them the love and grace of God. Springtime at Loose Park, Kansas City was simply stunning and we didn’t have to fight any other crowds of people since we took advantage of the early morning hours!
This was an engagement session for the books!! Since this sweet couple adores Kansas City, we made sure to capture a lot of what really makes up the essence of the place. Starting at one of their favorite coffee shops, Messenger Coffee, we then moved a few blocks away and shot in some alleys and on the streets of the Crossroads Arts District. Finally, we ended downtown in the Power & Light District to catch the city lights as they started to glimmer soon before sunset. I can’t wait for Jaque & Andy’s wedding in Paola, KS this November!
A beautifully simple Spring wedding at Pierponts in Kansas City Union Station. A sunny, 70 degree day was the cherry on top to an already joyful occasion as Alli & Jill said “I do.”
A sunny, Spring engagement session at the Kansas City Union Station. Bailey and Zach will tie the knot this May in Bonnor Springs, Kansas!
I adore shooting at new-to-me locations and that’s exactly what Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area was for this KC metro engagement session! I had gone out a couple weeks earlier to location scout and boy am I glad I did, because it took me awhile to find this infamous spot, the conservation area is over 1000 acres after all… I actually had to stop in the Nature Center and show them a photo of what I was looking for before I realized it was barely inside the front gate!
I get it. One of the most stressful parts of family photos is just choosing what to wear! We think we have to get it perfect before we hire someone to capture this season in our family’s life and feel like we never quite get there, so it can even become the thing that makes us keep putting a photo session off. It’s happened to me too, but I’m here to encourage you not to let that be the reason you don’t take family pictures this year!
That being said, here are 10 tips for planning out your family photo outfits to help take the stress out of the process. There is also a bonus section if you keep reading with inspiration for where to shop!
On a cold, windy, Winter day in Downtown Kansas City… that just so happened to also be Valentine’s Day, I got to photograph this incredible couple’s engagement session!! We have the craziest story about how we met… read more here!
When Katie was looking for a maternity photographer, she found me and four other photographers in Kansas City online. She sent our work to her photographer friend in Phoenix, where she’s from, and let her choose. She said her friend chose me because my work was the most consistent….. what an incredible compliment! It definitely made my morning :) Katie and Eric are so fun and easy-going, I had such a wonderful time with this sunrise shoot at Loose Park. She will be induced in a week or two and I wish them all the best with this new, incredible season of life they’re about to embark on!
